AAA South Jersey provides notary services for our customers; our employees are highly trained in notary transactions. They are not attorney notaries and are not trained in all types of legal documents, therefore we do limit the types of transactions our notaries may or may not perform.
Notarial Acts AAA South Jersey will perform:
Members receive 5 free documents notarized. Each addional document will cost $2.50.
All Parties Present
All signers must be present. If the document to be notarized requires more than your signature, please make sure each person is there with the required identification.
Bring Correct Identification
Each signer must have a valid form of identification. Acceptable forms of ID vary by state, but are typically government issued, with a photo, signature, and physical description of the person. Valid IDs include state-issued driver's license, state-issued ID card, military ID, and U.S. passport. Contact your local AAA office if you are unsure about your form of ID.
Know Your Document
Know what type of notarization you need; for example, an acknowledgment, jurat, oath or affirmation. This is especially important if the notarial statement isn’t attached to your document. Please ask the party requiring the notarization to provide the notarial statement or to advise the type needed. Notarizations can have legal ramifications. Notaries aren’t licensed attorneys and aren’t authorized to decide the type of notarization needed.
*All documents must have the proper notarial wording included; if not, you must contact the maker of the document and request what notarial act is required. If you are unable to provide what type of notarial act is required, we will refuse service.
*AAA South Jersey will NOT provide any witnesses to any document. All witnesses must be present and will need to provide documentation for identity purposes. At no time should a document be signed in advance. All signatures must take place in the presence of the notary. Both the customer needing the notarization and the witness need to produce identifying documents at time of signature.
**Certified copies of any official document can be obtained ONLY from the government authority that issued or has custody of the original. We can NOT certify birth certificates, death certificates, marriage certificates, diplomas, transcripts, grade report, or any document issued by a school, college, or university.
AAA South Jersey will NOT notarize any Wills, Living Wills, medical directive, depositions, I-9s, lease/rental documents, mortgage/refinance documents, divorce decrees, powers of attorney or any other legal document they feel is over and above their level of training.
AAA South Jersey notaries are strictly prohibited from giving legal advice or drafting legal documents such as contracts, mortgages, leases, wills, powers of attorney, liens or bonds.
AAA South Jersey notaries must be sure of the customer's identity through our own personal knowledge or through satisfactory evidence presented to us by the customer. If the customer's identity is not known to us, then it must be proven by the member or service will be refused.
