Tax Statement Search

  1. The Harris County Appraisal District (HCAD) has not certified the property tax account.
  2. You have requested to opt out of the online display and access of your property tax account.
  3. There has been a change in ownership on the property and our office has not been notified of the change.
  4. The property tax account is being reviewed prior to billing.

You are still responsible for payment of your property taxes even if you have not received a copy of your property tax statement(s). Please call 713-274-8000 or send an email to tax.office@hctx.net to receive a payment amount for your 2020 property taxes. The 2020 property taxes are due January 31, 2021.

Please send an email to tax.office@hctx.net to remove the “opt out” block on your property tax account. Include your property address, account number, the property owner’s email address, and phone number.

If you have trouble searching by Name, please use your Property Tax Account Number or your Property Address.

The tax statement provided by this website has been prepared from Tax Office data current as of the date printed on the statement and is subject to changes or corrections. All payments received may not be shown as of this date. For an official record of the account, please visit any Tax Office location or contact our office at 713-274-8000.

If you currently owe property tax on your account but your account information does not display, the values may not yet have been certified by the appraisal district. Please check with the Harris County Appraisal District (HCAD) for further information.

The Tax Office accepts full and partial payment of property taxes online. Property taxpayers may use credit cards, debit cards or e-Checks to pay their taxes.

All Payment Options

The Tax Office accepts both full and partial payment of property taxes. Property taxes may be paid online, in person, by mail or by phone.

There is a $30 administrative charge for incorrect information entered or payments dishonored by your financial institution or rejected by your service provider.

Paying Prior Year Taxes

Please note that partial payments made by mail or over the phone post to current year taxes first. If both current and prior year taxes are due, you must pay the entire amount due in order to pay the prior year taxes when using one of these methods of payment.

If you want to pay ONLY prior year taxes, you must do so online or in person at any branch location. You may also split your payment between current and prior year taxes when using either of these methods. Please note, however, that any amount paid toward prior year taxes online will post beginning with to the oldest year(s) first.

Forms of Payment

Cash

Cash is accepted when paying in person at any Tax Office location.

Check or Money Order

Both checks and Money Orders are accepted either by mail or in person at any Tax Office location.

We accept personal, business, cashiers or travelers checks.

  1. Payments sent by USPS must be postmarked no later than the last business day in January.
  2. Payments sent by UPS, FedEx or other common carrier must show a receipt date on or before the specified due date.

E-Check

Electronic checks are accepted by any of the following methods:

  3. via the ‘Bill Pay’ function at your bank

Credit/Debit Card

American Express, Discover, MasterCard and VISA credit cards and VISA and MasterCard debit cards are accepted:

  3. in person at ALL tax office locations.

All cards add a 2.35% ($1.00 minimum) non-refundable convenience fee except VISA (personal) consumer debit card, which charges a flat $3.95. Please note the exact convenience fee amount is determined by your credit or debit card company.

How to Pay Online

To make an online payment, you must access your tax statement from the Statement Search and Payment screen. Then, click the Pay Online button to:

  1. Make full or partial payment by entering the specific amount to pay.
  2. Pay multiple accounts in a single transaction, using the Add Additional Accounts button.
  3. Pay current year and/or prior year taxes by specifying the amount to pay for each.

Please note that any amount paid online for prior year taxes will post to the oldest year(s) first.

Penalties and Fees

On-line property tax payment transactions must be completed by 11:59 PM Central Standard Time on or before the due date to avoid collection penalties and interest charges.

E-Check

To pay by e-Check, you must have the following information:

  1. Your property tax account number
  2. The payment amount
  3. Your telephone number
  4. Your bank’s ABA routing number (from your check)
  5. Your checking account number
  6. Your check number

Debit/Credit Card

To pay by credit or debit card, have the following information available:

  1. Your property tax account number
  2. Your credit or debit card number

How to Pay by Phone

Harris County property tax bills can be paid by touch-tone phone at any time from any place in the world, seven days a week. The phone number for making property tax payments is 713-274-2273.

Property taxpayers may use any combination of credit cards and/or e-Checks for payment.

The following cards can be used when paying by phone:

  1. American Express credit card
  2. Discover credit card
  3. MasterCard credit or debit card
  4. VISA credit or debit card

Electronic Tax Bill

The Harris County Tax Office is implementing electronic delivery as an alternative to paper tax bills.

IMPORTANT: Pursuant to the Texas Property Tax Code §31.01, please note that by selecting the electronic delivery option, you will no longer receive tax bills or delinquent notices via mail delivery. Therefore, before executing this agreement for electronic delivery of tax bills, all applicable laws and rules relating to your property tax account(s) must be reviewed carefully.

Can’t Pay Your Taxes Before the Deadline?

For taxpayers who are unable to pay their full tax bill, the Tax Office offers an Installment Payment Agreement plan, once the account is delinquent.
